Eskotene Grassland
Eskotene is primarily Kwazulu-Natal sandstone sourveld grassland, which is an endangered subtropical grassland type, home to a variety of flowering plants. Our main conservation effort in Eskotene is the eradication of alien invasive bramble. There are a few paths and dogs may be walked on a lead.
Eskotene park is in Eskotene Road, Everton.
Everton Park
In the park, there are many beautiful mature trees, as well as remnants of Kwazulu-Natal sandstone sourveld. A large arena is kept mowed for community use. The Iphiti river, named after the blue duiker, borders one side of Everton park.
Dogs may be walked on the many paths in the park.
Everton Park is in Forest view drive.
Molweni Trails
Believing that it is only if they can experience the beauty of nature that people will care for it, the conservancy has developed trails in the pristine riverine forest of the Molweni Gorge.
Many people now visit the Molweni Waterfall and the Porcupine Falls, although to access the latter one has to go through Ezemvelo land and need to pay the entrance fee at the Bridle road offices.
The two trails are accessed via the bridge over the Molweni River on Acutts Drive. The upstream trail traverses some private property, as well as public land. It is a circuitous route to the Molweni Falls and back, following the river. Downstream from the Acutts Bridge, there is a single path, also winding its way along the river.
Please note: This area is primarily a nature sanctuary for the use and pleasure of all residents and visitors. Dogs are strictly prohibited, as are loud music and ceremonies.
No charges are made for visiting the parks of the trails but ongoing maintenance is expensive and visitors are requested to make a donation either via zapper of eft into our bank account.
