What the Conservancy does

  • Clears and maintains the trails in the Molweni River Gorge
  • Guards the ecological integrity and outstanding natural beauty of Everton’s riparian forests and grasslands by removing invasive alien plants and monitoring for snares, removing litter and other illegally dumped items from these areas, and monitoring river water quality.
  • Keeps the park in Forest View Drive in good condition
  • Empties community rubbish bins
  • Monitors developments to ensure that building and town planning regulations are not transgressed
  • Provides advice and assistance to property owners in respect of removal of invasive alien plants
  • Lobbies the Municipality about unacceptable volumes of through traffic on our roads
  • Leads guided walks in the forests and grasslands
  • Organises the best annual event in the Upper Highway: The Everton Garden Party!
  • As the first urban conservancy in RSA, leads the way and works in cooperation with Krantzkloof Nature Reserve and adjacent eThekwini Municipality neighbours (Kloof, Gillitts, Chelmsfordville, Hillcrest and Forest Hills )
  • Educates and trains local domestic staff and gardeners in recognising the value of protecting wildlife and eradicating invasive alien plants
  • Emphasises the value of introducing our children to the concepts of protection of the environment
